A Dartmouth man has been arrested and is facing a murder charge following a fatal stabbing incident in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Tyler Dow Baglini, 31, was taken into custody shortly after New Bedford Police responded to a distress call from Atlantic Street on Friday afternoon. The victim, identified as 31-year-old Kerri Fidalgo of New Bedford, was discovered with severe stab wounds, as reported by NBC Boston.
According to WHDH News, the incident happened on 86 Atlantic Street, where police found Fidalgo and promptly rushed her to Saint Luke's Hospital. She was pronounced dead a short while after arrival. Baglini, the suspect apprehended in connection to her death, has since been held at the same hospital for psychiatric evaluation, in a turn of events that adds a layer of complexity to a story already charged with tragedy.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III stated that Baglini is expected to be charged with murder at his upcoming arraignment scheduled for tomorrow morning in New Bedford District Court, as noted by WCVB. It remains unclear if the accused has retained legal counsel.
As the community grapples with the shock of the incident, forensic teams and investigators are continuing their inquiries. The Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney's office, along with New Bedford police and the homicide unit, are deeply engaged in the investigation. This concerted effort aims to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the untimely passing of Fidalgo.
