The arrival of Hurricane Helene has prompted changes to waste services in DeKalb County. As residents prepare for the storm, the county's Sanitation Division has announced adjustments to its schedule. Thursday's residential waste collections are pushed to Saturday, with the county urging residents to have their refuse bins at the curbside by 7 a.m., according to a statement on the DeKalb County website.
Changes in commercial collections are also unfolding, with Thursday customers receiving service on the same day and those scheduled for Friday, and Saturday collections will see their waste picked up on Saturday as well.
The Beautification Unit has also been affected; Its operations will be suspended on both Thursday and Friday, reflecting the widespread impact the storm is expected to have on various county services. Additionally, the Administration Building and Customer Care Call Center will be closed, and no in-person or call center services will be available during this time.
