
A drive-by shooting in Quincy has left one person with serious injuries after their vehicle was riddled with bullets and subsequently crashed on Saturday night. According to the Quincy Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 11:00 PM near the intersection of Furnace Brook Parkway and Copeland Street.
Officers responded to the scene at 240 Willard Street, where they discovered a heavily damaged vehicle and a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; the individual was trapped inside but conscious and conversing, while the passenger was found unharmed outside the car.
Quick intervention by the Quincy Police resulted in an officer applying a tourniquet to control the bleeding until the Quincy Fire Department could extricate the victim using the Jaws of Life. The injured party was then transported to an area hospital by Brewster Ambulance, as per the police department.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting was targeted. The assailants, in a dark sedan, opened fire on the victims' vehicle, causing the driver to flee and eventually crash. The police later reported that the suspect vehicle fled in an unidentified direction, and there is no current threat to public safety.
