As the nation approaches the 23rd year since the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the City of Duluth marks the solemn day with a remembrance ceremony. Set to take place on Wednesday, September 11 at 8:15 AM, city officials, including members of the Duluth Police Department, Duluth Fire, and the 148th Fighter Wing, will gather at the AMSOIL Arena in the DECC. The event, aimed at paying tribute to those who lost their lives on that fateful day and reflecting on the impact of the events that unfolded, will be open to the public.

The ceremony will feature remarks by city officials and a shared moment of reflection, concluded by a collective prayer. According to the City of Duluth's announcement, this act of remembrance not only honors the victims but also those whose lives continue to be affected by the aftermath of 9/11.

Following the formal ceremony, there will be an invitation-only memorial stair climb. Invited guests will join the Duluth Fire Department and other fire professionals from the region to participate in what has become a poignant tradition of remembering the first responders. Members of the media interested in interviewing participants of the stair climb are advised to contact Public Information Officer Kelli Latuska ahead of the event for access.
