An incident at a pharmacy drive-thru in Eagle Mountain led to the arrest of a 53-year-old woman, identified as Christine Kotter, for aggravated assault. Kotter reportedly brandished a handgun at two individuals after an altercation related to a drive-thru line cut-off. According to ABC4, the conflict arose when Kotter was at the pharmacy to pick up pain medication and claimed another vehicle cut her off in line, leading to an argument between her and the occupants of the other car.
As detailed by FOX13, Kotter admitted to officers at the scene that she had pulled out a handgun and threatened to use it. She recounted how she had reversed her car to tell the other party she was leaving and pulled out her gun when she deemed their behavior confrontational. The arresting officers noted in their report that Kotter, "seemed to be confused and stated multiple times she could not recall what had happened," but she was aware that brandishing the weapon was not appropriate.
The victims of the incident conveyed a more harrowing version of the events. The pregnant passenger told Kotter, "not to point a gun at a pregnant woman," as obtained by KUTV. After the threat was made, the victims retreated to their car and called 911. The affidavit further stated that deputies seized the loaded gun, which also had a bullet in the chamber, "and was ready to fire."
Kotter was later booked into the Utah County Jail on suspicion of third-degree felony aggravated assault, her bail was set at $5,000, which was later posted. As reported by KUTV, as of noon Wednesday, Kotter was not listed as being in custody. Deputies' quick response and investigation have likely prevented the escalation of what could have been a dangerous situation.
