
In a roadside incident that escalated beyond a brief altercation, East Bridgewater Police arrested 61-year-old Alan Eugene Stec on Sunday following a reported road rage event. Stec, a resident of East Bridgewater, faces several charges, including multiple counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of property, reckless operation of a vehicle, and resisting arrest. According to the East Bridgewater Police Department, the driver is accused of striking another vehicle and attempting to hit several pedestrians with his car.
The incident took place near 555 Washington St. around midday when police received a 911 call about the situation. Officers arrived to find a damaged vehicle that subsequently fled the scene, driving onto a lawn and nearly colliding with a police cruiser and other vehicles. The driver continued into the backyard of a home, ignoring officers' commands to stop. When he attempted to escape on foot, an officer deployed a Taser. According to a statement from the East Bridgewater Police Department, the driver allegedly spat at the officers during the arrest, resulting in three counts of assault and battery on a police officer.
Following the arrest, Stec was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and subsequently released into police custody for booking. A court appearance is scheduled for today at the Brockton District Court. He was held on $250,000 bail pending his arraignment.
During the reported episode, a child under 14 was allegedly put in danger. The police department has not yet indicated whether substance impairment was a contributing factor.
