An East Palo Alto school employee was apprehended and is facing serious charges following allegations of lewd acts involving a minor. The suspect, 54-year-old James Edward Fitch from Stockton, was arrested on a $500,000 warrant yesterday. Fitch had worked at Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School as the Campus Relations Coordinator when the alleged criminal activities occurred.
The East Palo Alto Police Department was alerted to the allegations on September 6. After a thorough investigation, they found what they believed to be probable cause to arrest Fitch on three felony counts of lewd acts with a minor and one felony count of luring a minor for lewd acts. Working alongside the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension Team, Fitch was taken into custody at his home and will now face trial booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
With the accused now awaiting due process, the police urge the public to come forward with any further information that may be pertinent to the case. In an official press release, the East Palo Alto Police Department encouraged those in the know to contact Detective Sergeant Luaorozco of their Criminal Investigations Division directly.
