Travelers in and around El Paso should prepare for delays as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced several road closures for the first week of September. As reported by KTSM, these closures include major thoroughfares where lane reductions and alternate lane closures could affect daily commutes.
Specifically, TxDOT is planning to close alternating lanes on Redd Road between North Desert Boulevard and South Desert Boulevard from September 3 through September 7, according to a statement obtained by KTSM. Commuters should also expect I-10 East and West to be reduced to one lane between Vinton Road and Transmountain Road during the same timeframe to allow crews to safely work on retaining walls. It is essential for drivers to plan accordingly and expect longer travel times.
Alongside the TxDOT closures, as detailed by KFOX-TV, there will be closures for the Loop 375 Mill and Inlay Project. These closures will involve the closure of the southbound left lane on Americas Avenue, as well as alternating lane closures on Joe Battle Boulevard between Pellicano Drive and Montana Avenue. Nightly work from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. from September 3 to September 5 will focus on concrete pouring and asphalt placement.
Notably, the Darrington Road Safety Lighting Project will continue to cause disruptions through September 27, with daily north and southbound alternating right lane closures between Alberton Street and LTV Road. This ongoing effort to improve road safety is necessary for crews to complete tasks such as installing conduits and setting light poles. For drivers, remaining vigilant and anticipating stop-and-go traffic has become part of the daily routine.
Continuous closures are also in effect, which include a complete left lane closure on Montana Avenue for a median concrete barrier installation and an alternating lane closure on RM 652 for road reconstruction and rehabilitation. These long-term projects reflect a commitment to roadway improvement and safety, yet they also require public cooperation and patience.
