Storms Favor Higher Terrain Friday Afternoon
The chance of rain is about 20% Friday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. Storm activity should weaken around sunset, but stronger cells could produce brief heavy rain and outflow gusts near 40 mph, especially over the Sacramento Mountains and other higher terrain.
Sunny, Hot Weekend Ahead
Saturday will be sunny with a high near 99 and a low around 77, followed by a sunny Sunday topping out near 100. Winds should remain light, generally from the east or south at about 5 to 7 mph, offering little relief from the afternoon heat.

Triple-Digit Temperatures Continue Next Week
Monday should reach 99 degrees, Tuesday 98, and Wednesday and Thursday 99. Overnight lows will stay in the mid to upper 70s, with partly cloudy skies at times and a better chance for mountain storms than for the lowlands as the workweek unfolds.
For Friday plans, the coolest hours will be early morning and after sunset. Drink water regularly, take breaks in shade or air conditioning, and be ready to move indoors if thunder develops or winds suddenly increase.
