According to the Atlanta Police Department, the incident occurred on September 10, just as the city's rush hour was about to peak. The officers spotted the man weaving dangerously through traffic near 10th Street NW and Techwood Drive NW.
The situation escalated when the suspect, urged by the approach of law enforcement, decided his best option was to speed away. With adroitness that seemed to mock the very concept of traffic laws, the scooter rider darted between cars, zipping and dodging, until he reached Spring Street NW and Peachtree Place NW. There, he ditched his two-wheeled steed and fled on foot into a Publix supermarket, followed closely by the police.
Despite the dramatics of his initial flight, the man was eventually found hiding in a parking garage adjacent to the store, as reported by the Atlanta Police Department. The officers managed to place him under custody "without further incident." His adventure on wheels led to multiple charges and a subsequent trip to the city jail.
