Grab your kids and your sense of autumnal adventure—The Landing-Minnesota River Heritage Park is hosting the Fall Leaves Scavenger Hunt & Nature Art event. The date to mark on your calendars is Thursday, October 3, from 10 to 11:30 AM. This family-friendly occasion invites participants to follow clues and discover a series of leaf piles prepped for your jumping pleasure, positioned throughout the park.
After participants have managed to find all the leafy treasure troves, they'll get to extend the experience into an art project. The goal is to collect the most aesthetic leaves and transform them by way of leaf rubbing art. And for those young readers eager to just jump right into more learning, the Readmobile—a library on wheels—will be making an appearance at the event's conclusion, equipped with a cargo of books, activities, and yes, the inevitable snacks to refuel those little explorers.
This hands-on experience is free to attend and is particularly suited for children ages 1-8, though all family members are welcome. While walking up to the event is possible, organizers recommend registration to receive updates, including any weather-related changes or cancellations. It's not just about roaming aimlessly in the great outdoors; the program promises to awaken creativity and playfulness in attendees of all ages.
In terms of logistics, all children 11 and under need an adult by their side. The event is a fruit of collaboration between the Family Resource Centers of Scott County and the Scott County Library.
