
A tragic incident occurred Wednesday evening on NE Lombard Street, Portland, when a pedestrian, believed to have possibly jumped from an overpass, was struck by a vehicle and later died. The Portland Police Bureau reported that the crash happened around 5:29 p.m. at NE Lombard Street near the 42nd Avenue overpass. According to the preliminary investigation, it appears the pedestrian may have taken the fatal leap, falling onto or being hit by the oncoming vehicle.
Responding to the scene, the Portland Police Officers from North Precinct discovered the injured pedestrian who was promptly rushed to the hospital. However, despite attempts to save their life, the individual succumbed to their injuries. Found at the scene, uninjured, the driver of the vehicle was the solo occupant. During the time of the investigation, NE Lombard Street was shut down in both directions between NE 42nd Avenue and NE 45th Avenue, as detailed by the Portland Police Bureau.
