Today, an extensive fire broke out at Red Shedman Farm Brewery in Mount Airy, causing severe damage to the establishment. The blaze was first reported after an individual noticed flames and smoke just after 3:30 a.m., detailed by a photo from the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services reported by WBALTV. Red Shedman Farm Brewery expressed its deepest gratitude to the firefighters who worked tirelessly to contain and extinguish the flames on social media platforms and confirmed that there were no casualties since no one was inside the brewery at the time of the incident.

According to WMAR2 News, as the fire engulfed the brewery, Melissa Aellen, a niece of one of the owners, said, "At that point, my uncle and I… it was pouring down rain… we just sat in his car and watched the building burn cause there’s nothing to do." The family-owned brewery was beside Linganore Winecellars on a 200-acre farm. It had become a popular spot, drawing approximately 40 thousand visitors annually and producing about 2 thousand barrels of beer and cider.

In the devastating aftermath, the brewery's family is forced to close their doors to evaluate the extent of the destruction. In contrast, the adjacent Linganore Winery, part of the same family business, remains unaffected and continues its operations. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but there is some speculation about its origin.
