Last Friday morning, a stolen vehicle alert was triggered in Fort Worth, leading to a coordinated response by local law enforcement. According to a Facebook post by the White Settlement Police Department, it was approximately 8:49 am when Sgt. Blaustein and his team received the alert from Flock Safety, a license plate reading service that notifies police of flagged vehicles.
The vehicle was located by the Fort Worth Police Department and WSPD officers as it traveled southbound on Expedition Drive near 9600 White Settlement Road. A felony traffic stop ensued, and officers were initially given a false identity by the driver. Running southbound on Expedition Drive, the stolen vehicle was located by the diligent officers. After further investigation, the driver was identified as John Bazan, a Fort Worth resident, with an existing warrant for robbery and capital murder from the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.
Bazan, who was later confirmed to have been driving the stolen vehicle, faced additional charges for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Failing to Identify as a Fugitive with Intent to Give False Information. The incident showcased not only quick thinking but also the seamless integration of law enforcement departments, including the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), which assisted in the capture of Bazan.
