A chase through the streets of Oakland late last week ended with the apprehension of four suspects after California Highway Patrol officers spotted a suspicious vehicle. According to CHP Oakland, a black Honda Accord with heavy front window tint and paper plates caught officers' attention last Saturday near 53rd Ave and International Blvd.
The situation escalated when the car, instead of yielding, led the officers on a high-speed pursuit running multiple red lights, which gained air support from CHP's Air-37 as it continued, during the attempted traffic stop the vehicle sped away which kindled the chase. Eventually, on E 17th St. and Seminary Ave., the four occupants abandoned their vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but they were all captured. A search in the vicinity unearthed numerous firearms, including a stolen handgun, two ghost guns, one of which had an auto sear, and high-capacity magazines.
The stolen vehicle was confirmed, and the driver now faces various charges. The litany extends from possession of stolen property to multiple firearms violations.
