Celebration and community spirit will take the streets of Garland this Labor Day as the city unfurls its annual parade, a festivity marked by the rhythmic beats of high school bands and the energetic displays of cheerleaders and drill teams. In a social media post from the Garland Police Department, they extended an invitation to citizens, "Happy Labor Day! Join us as we attend the annual Labor Day Parade! Get ready for featured bands, cheerleaders, and drill teams from all 7 GISD high schools and much more!"
The anticipated event is set to begin at 9:00 a.m., with preparatory road closures starting at 8:30 a.m. These closures will temporarily alter the city's morning traffic, as the parade procession intersects with the regular commuter flow. The parade will kick off at Glenbrook Drive and Avenue F, proceeding north on Glenbrook to Main Street. From there, it will turn east onto Main Street, then head north on Sixth Street to State Street, and finally make its way down State to Fifth Street, where it will conclude at Fifth and Austin Street.
Motorists should expect traffic delays along the parade route and are advised to exercise caution when driving near the event.
