Authorities in Gilbert, Arizona have taken 28-year-old Jesse Michael Johnson into custody after a series of unsettling incidents at a local car wash. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, Johnson was allegedly spotted lurking beneath SUVs belonging to women who were busy cleaning their vehicles.
The report by Ground News details three separate instances on August 29 where Johnson reportedly hid under the SUVs while the victims were vacuuming, creating a disturbing experience for them. The Gilbert Police Department further stated that the vehicles had to be inspected for potential damage or illicit placement of tracking devices – an extra burden of concern for the car owners.
Keith Baker, an employee at the Super Star Car Wash, provided an account of the incidents. "He keeps walking back and forth, and you'll see him do that. He's watching to see what she's doing," Baker described. Moreover, FOX 10 Phoenix quotes Baker as saying, "He was out underneath the vehicle for about five to six minutes, I want to say. Then, he slips out and goes to this back passenger tire and is like trying to fiddle with it, making it seem like he's there the entire time." This behavior left the car wash staff in disbelief, with Baker admitting, "I don't have any words, to be honest."
Legal implications for Johnson are significant. After being caught in the area of Emmett and Riggs Road on the afternoon of September 24, he faces several charges including three counts of voyeurism and three counts of disorderly conduct. A judge has also imposed a $10,000 bond on Johnson, requiring him to wear an ankle monitor upon release. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 3.
The string of incidents serves as an eerie echo to Johnson's past behavior. In 2016, he reportedly confessed to Nebraska law enforcement about a sexual attraction to women's feet – an obsession that seemingly continues to compel him to cross private boundaries.
