It's rare to see a YouTube sensation turn sticky art into a brick-and-mortar empire, but Ameerah Navalua is doing just that with 'Slimeatory,' her Gilbert-based store that's all about the art of creating and customizing slime. This DIY haven has become a hot spot for those looking to delve into the trend that's stretching far beyond kids' craft tables. According to ABC15, Navalua stated, "I intended it to be a place where you can let all your creativity flow and just go absolutely crazy." And crazy they go, with a DIY Slime Bar, to-go supplies, and racks of other craft materials ready to be transformed.
It's not everyday you'll find 80-year-olds elbow-deep in gooey concoction, but Slimeatory welcomes everyone, Navalua insisted in the glittering aisles of her brainchild. "There was even an instance where I was helping teach a slime class here, and I believe there were like two 80-year-old women who were best friends, just having the time of their lives, making slime," Navalua told ABC15. This inclusive space not only champions creativity but also acts a therapeutic oasis for those with sensory issues, offering a calming experience through texture and craft.
The creativity doesn't stop in-store, though. For those who can't make it to the East Valley shop, Slimeatory's website boasts a slew of slime options available for online purchase. Indulge in choices like 'Delicia de Mazapán,' drawing inspiration from the almondy treat, or the 'Cotton Candy Cake Bar,' which merges the airy taste of cotton candy with the satisfying crunch of a cake bar. And let’s not overlook the 'Blueberry Cheesecake,' promising a blend of fruity and dessert-like notes for a sensorial treat.
While the store has become a physical embodiment of Navalua's childhood curiosity and YouTube fame, with more than 4.9 million followers and videos boasting upwards of 18 million views, the message of Slimeatory goes deeper. "We have the store now, and I think my favorite part is the fact that people can come in here now [and] do their experiments. They can also let their creativity flow as well," she explained to ABC15. As for expansion, Los Angeles slime enthusiasts can rejoice – Slimeatory has its sights set on opening up shop in the City of Angels as well.
