The quiet of an American Canyon night was abruptly shattered last night as residents reported the sound of gunfire erupting from a roadway altercation. According to the American Canyon Police Department, the incident unfolded shortly after 9:30 p.m. near the 400 block of Rio Del Mar, where witnesses heard between three to eight gunshots. The source of the disturbance was traced to a conflict between two vehicles.

Following the sound of gunfire, residents saw one vehicle make a hastened retreat, heading westbound towards Wetlands Edge Road. Arriving officers responding to the scene found a parked car that no one was occupying bore the mark of a stray bullet. Near the scene, investigators recovered bullet casings, yet no injuries have been reported.
