All government offices, with the exception of essential services ensuring the "comfort and safety of residents," will be closed, as announced by the county's official website.
Planned barbecue gatherings and celebrations might seem ironic as offices close and services pause, but the Magistrate Court judge remains on duty at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. Only those operations, the county assures, deemed critical will continue through the holiday.
Residents looking to utilize county services will have to pause their endeavors until normal business resumes. "County offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, and will reopen during normal business hours Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024," states the county news release. This closure encompasses all non-essential facilities and offerings.
The day off, celebrated on the first Monday of September each year, is a federally recognized holiday that, sitting amidst family, friends, and feasts. While most enjoy the holiday, a few remain at their posts to ensure public safety welfare and order.
