Yesterday early morning, a fire suddenly broke out in San Mateo putting lives in grave danger. At 3:30 a.m., the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department responded to an urgent call about a structure fire with individuals trapped inside. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters were met with chaos. One person stood outside, frantically informing them that an elderly resident was still trapped inside the burning home.
Without hesitation, the firefighters sprang into action. They quickly located a resident by a first-floor bathroom window silhouetted against the flames. Acting swiftly, the team executed a dangerous but successful rescue, pulling the resident from the fire. According to the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department, the blaze began on the rear patio and rapidly spread to the attic and living areas. Fortunately, the flames were brought under control soon after the rescue.
In the aftermath, two residents required medical treatment for burns and were transported to a local burn center. A third resident was able to escape on their own. Thanks to the quick response and bravery of the fire crews, the fire was extinguished, and the two hospitalized patients were reported to be in stable condition.
