An electric scooter ride ended tragically last week when a pedestrian was struck and killed by an impaired driver in Las Vegas. The fatal accident, which took place at the intersection of S. Valley View Boulevard and W. Twain Avenue occurred on August 29, as indicated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's initial report, a Toyota FJ was making a routine turn onto S. Valley View Boulevard when it collided with the pedestrian. The victim, a 52-year-old woman riding her scooter, turned left to seemingly travel north and inadvertently entered directly into the vehicle's path. The driver, identified as 54-year-old David Seltveit, remained on the scene and displayed signs of impairment prior to being arrested on DUI-related charges. Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene, unable to revive her.
The LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section is conducting an in-depth investigation to fully understand how to rightfully avoid such incidents in the future.
