An Indiana man, Dominique Washington, has been charged with the murders of two police informants, whose bodies were discovered in Fort Wayne's St. Marys River. The victims, identified as Matthew Johnson and Christina Dixon, had been working with the Richmond Police Department and were instrumental in a significant drug bust earlier this month. WTHR reported that Washington is facing preliminary charges of murder, kidnapping, and "failure to report discovery of body with intent to hinder investigation."
According to investigators, on Sept. 19, Johnson and Dixon were lured into a vehicle by Washington and instructed to turn off their phones, as found in court documents. It was during a tragic drive that Washington allegedly switched cars, executing the pair, then discarding them into the river. This information was obtained from traffic cameras and cellphone records according to the police as per FOX59's coverage of the crime.
Earlier, Johnson and Dixon had contributed to a successful drug raid on Sept. 10, which yielded a large seizure of narcotics. The suspect arrested in that raid is reportedly associated with Washington and is listed as a witness in court documents. The mother of one, Christina Dixon, had told her son that she would be back soon, before she left her home for the last time, according to court documents obtained by WANE.
Varying in the cruelty of their ends, Dixon suffered death by strangulation and suffocation, while Johnson was killed by gunshots and stab wounds, as determined by the Allen County Coroner. Their bodies turned up by volunteers cleaning the riverbanks, leading to an investigation that unwound to the arrest of Washington, who is being detained without bond in the Allen County Jail.
