Roxbury and Jamaica Plain neighborhoods recently witnessed the arrest of a suspect connected to a reported armed robbery incident. The Boston Police Department announced that 27-year-old Jonathan Lopez of Jamaica Plain was taken into custody following a concerning confrontation in which one person was robbed of their belongings at gunpoint.
The sequence of events leading to the arrest began with the alleged armed robbery, which unfolded late in the evening on September 24, when officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were called to 5 Greenheys Street, where a group of males reportedly approached a victim while displaying a firearm and took the victim's fanny pack, cell phone, and watch before fleeing, leaving the victim shaken but unharmed.
Following diligent investigations, the Youth Violence Strike Force, along with officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) and E-13 (Jamaica Plain), located and arrested Lopez near 195 Heath Street. The arrest took place on the afternoon of September 27—mere days after the initial incident had set an urgent manhunt into motion.
Lopez is now facing multiple charges with the Dorchester District Court looming as the next battleground for this case, the charges include Armed Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and with a Firearm. He is expected to be arraigned at the Dorchester District Court in connection with the armed robbery event.
