In a collaborative effort that brought together the canine prowess of the Sheriff's Office and the vigilance of Plymouth Police, a fugitive was apprehended in a dramatic yet orderly capture. According to a Facebook post by the department, K9 Deputy Tracey Manter and his trained partner, a dog named "Metal," played a pivotal role in the detainment of a criminal suspect who had previously eluded law enforcement by fleeing on foot.
The pursuit led the K9 team and Plymouth PD officers through rugged terrain, including a bog road and dense underbrush of thorns, but they did not deter. Deputy Manter, accompanied by Metal, found the suspect thanks to the dog's trained proximity alert. The suspect was discovered lying hidden in the brush, about 25 feet from where the dog and Manter stood.
The suspect's apprehension was a seamless operation, negating potential danger and further confrontation. Assisting K9 Deputy Manter was K9 Deputy Rich Nawazelski along with Officer Nick Anderson and Officer Jeremy Rousell of the Plymouth PD. Together, they executed the arrest without further incident as soon as the suspect's hiding spot was revealed by K9 Metal's keen senses.
The success of this operation highlights the valuable contributions K9 units bring to modern policing, showcasing a partnership between man and animal that often goes unsung. Each member of the team, both human and canine, was commended for their excellent job and the professional manner in which they conducted themselves during the operation, playing vital roles in maintaining the community's safety.
