The Knox County Sheriff's Office has launched an appeal for assistance in identifying a man found dead near the Ten Mile Creek Greenway in West Knox County. As reported by WVLT, the body was found on August 5, 2023, in a wooded area close to 325 Walker Springs Rd. Despite a year since the disturbing discovery, the man's identity remains unknown, with officials urging the community for any information to shed light on the case.
According to WBIR, the deceased's body was severely decomposed, ruling out immediate identification, and has since been under the examination of the Regional Forensic Center in Knoxville. Signs of an assault or apparent injuries were not found.
Efforts to identify the man include details of distinctive tattoos, a skull on his left leg, and a cross on his upper right arm, hoped to be clues that might resonate with someone who knew him. The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs, has also been involved in providing a sketch that projects the man's possible appearance.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone who may recognize the described tattoos or provide any relevant details not to hesitate to reach out at 865-215-2243.
