A fatal crash on the Crescent City Connection in New Orleans took the life of a man early Sunday morning, as reported by Louisiana State Police. The incident, which involved a collision between two vehicles, occurred around 9 a.m., ultimately claiming the life of 69-year-old Andrew Perrin from Lafitte, as per WAGNO.
According to WWLTV, Perrin was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla and had just entered US 90B east from the General DeGaulle Drive on-ramp when the crash happened. Driving the on-ramp and encountering a 2021 Kia Telluride moving eastbound on US 90B, the Toyota inexplicably veered across lanes and entered into the Kia's path, causing a severe accident.
The outcome was both vehicles being forced off the road, where a cement barrier stopped their violent careen. Despite being secured by a seatbelt, Perrin sustained grave injuries. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he could not be saved. "For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota crossed all eastbound lanes and entered the Kia's path," authorities said in a statement obtained by WWLTV.
The driver of the Kia, who also was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, suffered only minor injuries. Routine toxicology samples, part of standard investigative procedures in such crashes, were collected from both drivers, as nola.com reported.
