In the early hours of Tuesday, a two-alarm fire shook the Largo community as flames tore through a commercial warehouse, located at 12673 59th Way N., home of Florida Suncoast Plastering Inc. According to IONTB, the blaze was reported at around 4:15 a.m., with Largo Fire Rescue and multiple agencies responding to the scene.
The structure was engorged in heavy smoke and visible flames upon firefighters' arrival; the situation escalated, requiring a second alarm call; further resources were sent to the scene to combat the aggressive fire. Firefighters controlled the blaze but were later evacuated due to a large crack in the building’s wall and concerns about the roof’s stability, as described by IONTB.
No individuals were inside the structure at the time of the fire; however, the ordeal was not without casualties; "One firefighter was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment," as reported by FOX 13. The condition of the firefighter has not been disclosed to the public.
Largo Fire Rescue was supported by Sunstar, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, and fire departments from Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg, Lealman, and Seminole. The cause of the blaze is still unknown as investigations continue, with ongoing efforts to understand its origin and development, according to the Tampa Free Press.
