A fatal shooting occurred early Thursday morning at a Spring Valley residence, resulting in the death of a male intruder. According to FOX5 Vegas, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported being called to the 6400 block of Placer Drive around 7:40 a.m. after the homeowner notified them about an attempted break-in. During the emergency call, a gunshot was audible to the dispatcher.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound. He was administered medical aid and subsequently transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Lt. Jason Johansson confirmed the homeowner's cooperation in the investigation, and indicated that arrests are not anticipated at this stage. However, any potential charges will be the decision of the Clark County district attorney’s office, as conveyed by KTNV.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide detectives are now working to collect additional evidence and witness statements in the neighborhood.
