As reported by WLWT, this eleventh-hour play came after Vollmer had already impressed with 87 rushing yards and a touchdown, alongside 65 receiving yards.
Looking like they had found themselves in a bind at halftime, St. Xavier trailed Elder 10-7, only to stage a second-half rally. The comeback was ignited by Herbstreit's two-yard touchdown rush and supported by a safety, courtesy of linebacker Matt Schulte and defensive lineman Josh Fasbender, as LOCAL12 highlighted in their game summary.
