Last night, tragedy struck the community of Lemon Grove when a 23-year-old Black male was fatally shot on the 2200 block of Dain Ct. The incident, which occurred at approximately 10:55 p.m., prompted several calls to the Sheriff's Office Communication Center reporting gunshots. As the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the Lemon Grove Sheriff's Station deputies quickly responded, arriving on the scene around 11 p.m..
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the young man lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his torso. In an attempt to quickly save his life, lifesaving measures were immediately initiated until the San Miguel Fire Department personnel arrived. Despite the urgent efforts, the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The Sheriff's Homicide Unit is actively conducting the investigation into this fatal shooting. As of now, details about the circumstances leading to the young man's death and the motivation behind the act remain unclear. No confirmed suspect information has been released to the public at this time.
