Louisiana State Police, Troop NOLA, increased their presence in New Orleans with a series of high-speed pursuits, leading to multiple arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs and stolen firearms. In two incidents, officers showed their commitment to tackling drug trafficking and reducing vehicle-related crime in the area, according to NOLA.com.
Troopers tried to stop a white Dodge Charger for speeding, but the driver fled on foot after crashing off the road. With help from Air Support, they found the suspect. The Charger turned out to be stolen and had a stolen gun with a large magazine, along with 35 grams of fentanyl, cocaine, and tramadol inside. Later, they chased a black Infiniti, which crashed into a fence. Inside, they found about 400 grams of marijuana, nearly 50 grams of heroin, and over 90 grams of cocaine, as per WDSU.
As night blanketed the city, another chase ensued, this time with Troop NOLA officers hunting down a white Audi crossover, connected to a spate of vehicle burglaries, the pursuit took a dramatic twist on St. Anthony Street near Rapides Drive where the Audi collided with another vehicle. WWLTV reported that the collision allowed officers to arrest two suspects, Jaharis Butler, 21, and Justin Wilder, 24, who were later treated at a local hospital, as was the driver of the other vehicle, treated at the scene. Witnesses described watching as the Audi also struck an object causing water leakage on the crowded street.
