In a high-speed incident, a man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after his vehicle was clocked at a staggering 113 miles per hour in El Paso. According to the City of El Paso, the driver, identified as Torres, was caught speeding on Loop 375 and Pellicano on September 14th. An officer manning a radar station recorded the high speed just moments before conducting the traffic stop at the 1500 block of Joe Battle.
Upon pulling Torres over, the officer noted visible signs of intoxication. During the stop, Torres admitted to having come from a bar and stated he was in the process of heading to his sister's house. This sequence of events led to Torres being subsequently booked into the El Paso County Detention Center. Despite the risks associated with driving at such excessive speeds, especially under the influence, the detailed consequences of Torres' actions have not been disclosed.
The El Paso Police Department's commitment to curbing dangerous driving behaviors, especially instances of driving under the influence, appears to be firm. The incident stands as a stern reminder of the strict enforcement policies in the area, aimed at reducing traffic accidents and fatalities. The rate of speed at which Torres was traveling not only endangered his own life but also the lives of other road users.
