A man lost his life following a shooting incident in Southeast Memphis last night. According to WREG, Memphis Police Department (MPD) officers were called to the scene at approximately 8 p.m. in the 5800 block of Ridgehill Drive. Once there, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound.
The victim was urgently transported to St. Francis Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, as stated in a separate report by Local Memphis. Currently, police have not provided details surrounding the circumstances that led to the shooting nor any suspect information, and the case remains under active investigation.
While details are sparse, another outlet, FOX13 Memphis, reported that MPD confirmed the man had been shot near East Raines and Hickory Hill roads. Originally taken to Regional One Health with critical injuries, he succumbed this morning.
There was a person detained at the scene; however, this suspect information did not have by MPD, as to whether they were connected to the crime, as per FOX13 Memphis.
