
The Memphis Police Department is currently investigating a violent incident that took place on September 21. The event, which has been classified as especially aggravated robbery, occurred at the Quick Mart located at 4000 Raleigh Millington Road. According to police, the robbery attempt left one man with a gunshot wound to the neck. Memphis Police Department's official Facebook page reported that at 7:11 p.m., officers were dispatched to the scene following the altercation.
Details provided by the authorities describe the victim as simply inspecting items for potential purchase at the front of the store when two unknown assailants entered. The statement obtained by Action News 5 says one of the suspects crept behind the victim, attempting to remove the handgun from his waistband, which led to a physical struggle.
During this confrontation, one of the suspects brandished his firearm and discharged one shot, striking the victim in the neck area. "The victim tried to fight back, but one of the suspects pulled out a weapon in retaliation and fired one shot," the report detailed. Subsequently, both suspects were seen fleeing in a northbound direction from the Quick Mart. The investigation remains active, as police have yet to make any arrests related to the incident.
Fox 13 Memphis also covered the event, noting that the violent episode was both sudden and alarming for onlookers. Their report stated, "Police reported that two unknown suspects came into a business moments after the victim when one of the suspects tried to take the victim's gun from their waistband." Engagement between the victim and the assailants quickly escalated to gunfire, resulting in the injuries sustained. Community members and Quick Mart patrons are left unsettled by the violence that erupted in what began as an evening of routine commerce.
