Mankato's public transit has taken a significant step forward in supporting the local student body, thanks to a collaboration with Becca Sharpsteen and Mankato Area Public Schools. The partnership, which focuses on increasing accessibility for students, has gone live this school year, providing additional bus routes that aid students who previously lacked sufficient school-sponsored transportation options.
In a display of communal effort, the Mankato Transit System, after receiving a substantial grant to enhance its services last spring, has now put the planning and discussions into practice. As shared by the City of Mankato on Facebook, the new routes are a culmination of the ongoing dialogue between Becca Sharpsteen and the transit authorities that began the last school year. It's an initiative that targets areas where the walking distance to school presents a barrier to students' daily commute.
As stated by the City of Mankato, Minnesota Government, "A big thank you to everyone involved for making this partnership so successful!"
