In what was more than just a typical scuffle, Officer Barlette of the Mansfield Police Department traded punches for a cause at the GUNS & HOSES Foundation of North Texas Boxing event last Saturday. Not only did Barlette clinch victory representing the blues, but he also took home the title for ‘Fight of the Night’. The officer's commitment went beyond the call of duty both in the ring and for a charitable endeavor that brought first responders together in a blend of camaraderie and competition.
While the boxing event featured multiple bouts, it was Barlette's showdown with a contender from Howe FD that captivated the crowd. And the Mansfield Police Department couldn't contain their pride, boasting on Facebook about the officer's pugilistic prowess. "Thank you to everyone who participated and donated to the event! Congratulations Ofc. Barlette, we’re proud of the representation you displayed for the department and for the dedication and hard work that brought you to Saturday night’s win!" the post said.
The GUNS & HOSES Foundation of North Texas, revered for organizing such philanthropic showdowns, brings police and firefighters together in the ring to raise funds for families of fallen officers and firefighters. These events are not only a testament to the physical preparedness demanded of our first responders but also echo their relentless spirit of service. Officer Barlette's victory is a singular story of that night.
