Town Green in Maple Grove will be illuminated with a purple glow tonight to mark International Overdose Awareness Day. The Maple Grove City Council has officially designated August 31 as the day to recognize the global event, which aims to remember those who have died from overdose and promote an end to the associated stigma, as per the City of Maple Grove, MN - Local Government.
Lighting up the Town Green in purple, a color symbolic of the cause, the initiative highlights a collective mourning and a steadfast commitment to battling a crisis that the city refuses to ignore. "This observance is a time to acknowledge that overdose is preventable and to consider how we can prevent it in our community," as stated by the City of Maple Grove, MN - Local Government.
