A somber investigation is underway in Memphis after a deadly shooting occurred Friday night at the Methodist North Hospital parking lot. According to WREG, Memphis Police were called to the scene at 3960 New Covington Pike at about 8:42 p.m., upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound who was declared dead at the scene.
Drawing from information provided by Action News 5, suspects involved in the shooting reportedly fled in a white sedan. The police, having arrived at the crime scene, were greeted with the grim reality of another life extinguished prematurely in the flash of violence that has become all too familiar in these settings.
The scene, enveloped by patrol cars, was cordoned off, with police tape blocking any access to the emergency room of New Covington Pike, stated FOX13. The perimeter was strictly enforced by officers on the scene, allowing only the passage of ambulances through the secured zone.
Despite the chaos of the crime scene, the Memphis Police Department's investigation presses forward into the night, aiming to piece together the shattered mirror of events that led up to the man's death. A spokesperson for the Memphis Police Department conveyed to FOX13 the necessary, albeit tough, reality; a man's life had come to a violent end. Methodist Le Bonheur, the parent organization of the hospital, was approached by FOX13 for a statement but has not provided comment at this time.
