Two Memphis Police Department officers and a woman were hospitalized following a collision involving their squad car this morning. According to FOX13 Memphis, the officers were responding to a prowler call at Foxdale and Hickory Hill roads when they were struck by another vehicle.
As they were traveling to the scene, approximately a mile apart from where the initial call was made, their journey was abruptly interrupted by the crash. Local Memphis reported that both the officers and the woman were transported to the hospital and are in non-critical condition.
While details of the crash are still unfolding, the exact circumstances that led to the incident remain unclear. The collision location was given as near Knight Arnold Road and Clarke Road, as noted by Action News 5. Authorities are presumably investigating the sequence of events that culminated in this morning's accident.
MPD has not released information regarding the identities of the officers or the woman involved, and it is also not yet known whether any charges will be filed in relation to the crash. The community holds a vigil, hoping for the swift recovery of all those involved and anticipating further details as the investigation progresses.
