
The Memphis Police Department is actively seeking information on a theft that took place on Bannockburn Road, involving a stolen utility trailer and a riding lawnmower. The incident, reported on Saturday, was caught on surveillance footage the day prior.
The victim told Action News 5 that an unidentified man, believed to be between 40 to 50 years old, was captured by camera stealing the utility trailer that contained a Poulan 42-inch riding lawnmower from the side of his house. The culprit attached the trailer to his vehicle, a bluish-green sedan, and then brazenly drove off.
According to footage reviewed by the victim, the theft occurred on Friday around 10:46 a.m. and showed the suspect, a heavyset Black male dressed in a long white t-shirt and black skull cap, securing the trailer to the sedan before making his exit southbound on Bannockburn Road, as detailed by WREG.
The Memphis Police Department turned to social media to urge public assistance in this matter. They posted on Facebook, "Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH." They further incentivized potential tipsters with the possibility of receiving a cash reward should their information lead to an arrest, and assured anonymity through provided ID numbers.
As of now, no arrests have been made. The Memphis Police continue to investigate, and additional details can be submitted anonymously via the Crime Stoppers website or the ‘P3 Tips’ mobile application. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any information that could potentially help to securely pursue the thief.
