As Memphis gears up for a stretch of balmy, sunny days, local weather forecasts predict a consistently warm pattern with temperatures climbing close to the 90-degree mark. According to the National Weather Service, today will bring plenty of sunshine with a high near 89 degrees, and calm winds that will pick up slightly in the afternoon.
The evening is set to be partly cloudy with temperatures not dropping much lower than 72 degrees, a pattern that is expected to carry on through the weekend. Come Monday however, there will be a slight shift as the region faces a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm. This mild disturbance will see daytime highs take a slight dip, down to around 82 on Tuesday, with continuous chances of showers extending into the late week.
Residents looking to enjoy the outdoors can take advantage of the mostly sunny skies anticipated for Sunday, with the weather remaining fairly stable as calm winds shift southwest around 5 mph in the morning. Sunday night will mirror the previous nights, with partly cloudy skies and a low once again around 72 degrees, ensuring that the bouts of South wind around 5 mph will offer little reprieve from the warmth.
Those making plans for the following week would do well to keep an umbrella on hand as the possibility for precipitation lingers. The NWS has noted a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms both during Monday night and the day on Tuesday, with mostly cloudy conditions potentially leading to more overcast skies and cooler temperatures. As we advance deeper into the week, the chance of showers maintains at a steady 20 percent, with Wednesday's high near 79 degrees, and Thursday's conditions returning to mostly sunny, with a high nearing 78 degrees.
