A neighborhood in Mesa was shaken by an incident that claimed the life of a man yesterday evening after sounds of distress and a distinct "popping" noise were reported by locals. This occurrence was reported on around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Brown and Greenfield roads, as stated in a report by FOX 10 Phoenix. Responding to calls from neighboring residents, Mesa Police arrived at the scene to discover a harrowing sight.
Officials found "an adult man who appears to have been fatally shot," with the victim being pronounced dead at the location, relayed Mesa Police Det. Brandi Myers in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. The identity of the deceased has not been made public, and the details surrounding the incident remain murky. One individual has been detained in connection with the investigation, which has led authorities to believe to not expect any further suspects.
According to Belles Plantes, the investigation is far from over, with Det. Myers conveying, "It’s going to be a long night for investigators as they have more interviews to complete, search warrants to be served and evidence to collect before they can piece together what may have happened tonight." The nature of the investigation indicates that authorities are only beginning to unravel the threads of what transpired in the home where the screams and the 'popping' sounds led to a sinister discovery.
No additional details regarding the circumstances of the shooting or the identity of the man in custody have been released as of yet.
