A police pursuit involving Miami-Dade robbery detectives ended in a collision, a shooting incident, and two arrests late yesterday night. According to Local 10, the incident began shortly after 11:15 p.m. near Northwest 37 Avenue and 145 Street when officers attempted to stop a dark blue Mercedes-Benz sedan for a traffic stop. The car, driven by 21-year-old Antonio Vance, subsequently crashed during the pursuit. Multiple suspects then fled the vehicle, leading to the apprehension of Vance and a 15-year-old boy.
During the confrontation following the crash, gunfire erupted. A statement from Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, relayed by Local 10, explained, "The civilian driver of the vehicle involved shot at one of the subjects as the individual approached him with a firearm." The individual, an adult male, sustained a gunshot wound to one of his arms and was later hospitalized at Aventura Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
On the other side of the narrative, NBC Miami reported that the incident commenced following a traffic infraction, which led to the vehicle chase. After the Mercedes careened into another vehicle, shots were fired. "[Police] would learn the remaining subjects (detectives still working on how many) were involved in a confrontation with the civilian vehicle driver, as they approached him armed with firearms. The civilian driver produced a firearm and shot towards the subjects, who then ran away," authorities detailed.
The aftermath of the incident left one man wounded from the gunfire and two individuals in custody: Vance and a 16-year-old.
