Earlier today, Miami residents witnessed a significant police operation as SWAT teams descended upon their neighborhood, arresting several individuals described by police as "extremely violent offenders". According to 7News, the raids, which saw officers in tactical gear, took place around Northwest 75th Street and Northwest Third Avenue.
Neighbors reported disturbance when the police operation began from the dusk till dawn. One resident recalled to 7News that "Within minutes of being outside, it was 'Miami police we have a search warrant'. The scene went on for quite some time and I think I heard some banging so I do imagine they went in by force." Scenes of suspects sitting on the pavement while officers were executing the search warrant were observed from above by 7Skyforce. Meanwhile, a Crime Scene Investigations van was present to collect necessary evidence.
Simultaneously, Miami Police Maj. Albert Guerra announced on X that SWAT carried out multiple warrants "targeting extremely violent offenders". In this coordinated effort, Maj. Guerra shared that "We're proud to announce that the majority of the wanted subjects were taken into custody!" He credited the successful operation to the outstanding work of the investigations section.
Describing the surreptitious nature of criminality, another member of the community expressed to NBC Miami, "The truth is you never know who your neighbors are, you know, and you just want to try to be vigilant, nothing here would have told me that there were any issues in the neighborhood." It is still unclear how many arrests were made as Miami Police have not released further details at this time.
