Miami is preparing for a calm September weekend. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms later today, mainly after 2 p.m., despite sunny skies and temperatures nearing 90 degrees. Winds will be light, initially from the north at 5 to 7 mph, shifting gently to the east in the afternoon, as per the National Weather Service.
According to the National Weather Service, the evening will have a similar chance of rain, while Sunday is expected to be sunnier with only a slight chance of showers. Northeasterly winds will be calm at around 5 mph tonight.
WSVN notes that a gentle front that passed yesterday brought drier air, lowering rain chances and preventing high temperatures. Looking ahead, Miami's warm weather is expected to continue through Tuesday, with only occasional showers. Scattered storms may develop on Thursday and Friday, while highs remain near 90°F, at least until midweek, when moisture levels are projected to rise due to a developing tropical system in the northwestern Caribbean Sea or southern Gulf of Mexico, which has a 60 percent chance of formation within the next week. The potential storm is being closely monitored due to uncertainty about its future path, which could impact the entire Gulf Coast. Additionally, meteorologists are watching three other areas in the Atlantic Ocean that currently pose no immediate threat to land. While fall officially begins on Sunday, tropical activity remains active.
