In Mohave County, AZ, a case of severe animal abuse has been recently uncovered and is pulling at the community's heartstrings. A young rottweiler mix puppy, referred to by Boulder City Animal Control as "Seven," was found in an alley bearing injuries indicative of a violent human attack. The Boulder City Police Department in Nevada spent weeks investigating, only to confirm that the cruel act took place in Arizona, thus transferring the investigation to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, according to the news release from the Boulder City.
The injured state in which Seven was found soon to have sparked immediate medical treatment and a subsequent police investigation. "On August 19, 2024, Boulder City Animal Control responded to a local resident," as stated in an official communication from the Boulder City, detailing the puppy's condition, which included "a dislocated jaw, eye and facial damage, and missing teeth." Two surgical procedures were necessary, the extent of the injuries so grave that one of Seven's eyes had to be removed, and a feeding tube installed for nourishment.
The Boulder City Police Department's detectives worked tirelessly to unravel the particulars of this heinous act and successfully determine its origins. According to the same Boulder City statement, Detective work was critical in pinpointing the location of the crime, leading to a handover of evidence and findings to the appropriate authorities in Mohave County. Local authorities, represented by Lieutenant Thomas Healing, expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of community support, emphasizing that "Our officers have handed over reports and findings to our colleagues in Mohave County, where the investigation continues at this time."
The public's response to Seven's situation has been overwhelmingly supportive, with donations quickly covering all medical expenses. The community's generosity exceeded expectations, leading to a surplus of funds. As a result, Boulder City Animal Control has recommended that those who wish to contribute further direct their support to the local animal shelter.
