Commuters in northwest Oklahoma City faced significant delays, Thursday morning following multiple vehicle incidents on Lake Hefner Parkway. According to News 9, traffic was backed up from West Britton Road to West Memorial Road after three separate accidents occurred.
One of the incidents involved an overturned white SUV causing a temporary roadblock in the northbound lanes. KOCO reported that wreckers arrived at the scene and managed to get the overturned vehicle upright, before clearing the obstruction. They noted the absence of an ambulance, indicating that it was a non-injury accident.
Congestion began easing when emergency crews completed their responses to the accidents. Along with the overturned SUV, a second vehicle was also seen being towed away on another wrecker, which helped in restoring the flow of traffic to normal levels. Adding to the string of traffic disruptions, KFOR's coverage detailed how emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle rollover accident on the Lake Hefner Parkway. The accident, which occurred near NW 122nd St in the northbound lanes, necessitated the presence of several emergency vehicles at the scene, briefly amplifying the day's traffic troubles.
While the precise causes of the incidents remain under investigation, drivers were advised to expect delays in the aftermath and consider alternate routes if possible. Commuters traveling through the area later in the day experienced normal traffic conditions as the earlier accidents had been resolved and cleared from the parkway.
