The Pierce County Sheriff's Deputies apprehended a suspect who was previously involved in a vehicle pursuit and had multiple felony warrants. According to Pierce County Sheriff's Department blotter, the drama unfolded when deputies responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle on August 21, 2024. Upon checking the vehicle's license plate, the deputies identified it as belonging to the passenger from a previous incident involving a stolen F350.
The deputies, believing that one of the vehicle's occupants might have been the man who led them on a multi-county chase earlier in the month, set up a containment and initiated a felony stop. The situation escalated when, instead of cooperating, the suspect's 4-year-old child exited the vehicle, after which the deputies provided safety to the youngster. Moments later, the adult male suspect emerged from the vehicle naked and attempted to escape on foot, only to be apprehended by K9 Bronco after an intense search.
Utilizing a 40mm less lethal round to breach the vehicle's rear window, authorities attempted to negotiate the surrender of the suspect and his companion. The woman inside the vehicle purportedly called out that she was getting dressed. Subsequently, the suspect made a bold decision to exit the vehicle and flee, sans clothing, but deputies quickly lost sight of him.
Deputies established a perimeter and called in K9 Bronco, who proved pivotal in the apprehension. "Bronco tracked to a backyard and located the suspect inside a trash can. He was then taken into custody without any further attempts to flee," as reported in the blotter post. The suspect's streak of evasions came to an end when he encountered K9 Bronco, culminating in the naked man's surrender to the deputies.
