Yesterday morning in Nashville's Patricia Heights neighborhood, a tragic event unfolded resulting in the death of a 37-year-old man. Following the incident, the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has been actively conducting a homicide investigation into the robbery-related shooting that occurred outside an apartment on Patricia Drive.
According to the victim's friend, they were approached by four men demanding their belongings at around 12:10 a.m. After the victim attempted to fight back, "one of the suspects shot him in the stomach" and threatened to kill the second victim if he moved, as WKRN reported. The assailants then took a wallet, cash, a passport, and a Guatemalan ID before escaping on foot. The injured man was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he sadly passed away.
Currently, efforts are being made to properly notify the next of kin of the deceased. The MNPD has released descriptions of two suspects involved: a man in his mid-20s, around 5 feet 6 inches tall with hair short around the ears and neck and longer on top, and another man, estimated to be in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a long beard. This information was detailed in a statement obtained by WSMV.
Authorities are urging anyone with information that could possibly serve to assist the investigation to come forward. Those with knowledge about the case are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. It has been emphasized by The Tennessean that callers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 in homicide cases.
